The Sunday Social! week 1

Sunday Social

Here is a brand new linkup from Ashley's Carnival Ride. It is a fun way to get to know a little bit about other bloggers. Check it out.

1. How did you come up with your blog name? I like alliteration and the idea of my blog is to show off fun manicures and how well they withstand the wear and tear of an active lifestyle.

2. What is your favorite thing about blogging? I love sharing ideas, inspiring, and being inspired by the community of bloggers and blog readers.

3. What is one thing you have discovered because of blogging and now can't live without? I learned how to make a Zoya Remove type nail polish remover from here. I add a little lavender oil to the remover to make it a little less chemically smelling. It works great!

4. Facebook or Twitter? And Why? FB. I have a twitter account, but I have never really taken to it.

5. If one celebrity read your blog, who would you want it to be? Charlize Theron. She is perfection, always looks beautiful and glamorous. I would love it if my thoughts on beauty interested and inspired her.

6. What is something you want people to know about your blog? I really love your opinions. I want my blog posts to be more like conversations between us than lectures made by me.

Well, that's all for today. Take care.

Revlon Timeless: Not just an Infatuation

I love Revlon Timeless. Let me just get that out of the way.  L-O-V-E,  love. I love it without sparkly adornment. I love it with a little bit of flash from Milani Gems.

Timeless applied really smoothly and evenly. I then splotched Gems onto the tip of my nail and a little bit down to the middle of my nail. I topped it all with Gelous and my quick drying topcoat.

I apologize for not having any 6 day later pictures. I tried to email them to myself and they got lost. I deleted them off my phone before I realized that the email disappeared. But the polish held up really well. By day 6, I had a small amount of tip wear and a couple of little chips on my thumbs and middle fingers. The polish was starting to lift a tiny bit off of my left index finger too. I will say this, even with only a tiny bit of glitter polish on the tips, it was a pain to get that glitter off. It took about twice as long as usual.

The Nail Files

What do you think of Revlon Timeless? Do you prefer it by itself or with the multicolored glitter polish?

Next week, I'll show you Illamasqua Nomad. It is another love affair for me. Shh, don't tell Revlon Timeless!

Five things that I've enjoyed or celebrated over the last week:

1. Dress making. I've been sewing the Vogue 2960 pattern to wear at a friend's wedding in July. I'm finishing it right now. This is my very first attempt at sewing clothing and I'm just so happy that it will be wearable.
2. The Zoo. It is especially fun going with my little girl. I can see it all through her eyes. Her face was full of joy upon seeing an elephant!
3.Running Races. My family ran in a Kid's race this weekend, just for fun. My daughter always wants to run with me and we finally had the opportunity to run together . . . kind of.
4. Shabby Apple. I was very fortunate to win a contest for the first time ever yesterday! Rachael of Island Girl Insights and Shabby Apple teamed up to offer a gift certificate for some of the most beautiful clothes I have ever seen. Now, I have the problem of figuring out how to spend my prize.
5. Employment. I just got a call this morning to tell me that I got the job! Yippee!!

What did you enjoy over the past week. I look forward to hearing.

Have a great weekend.

Tuesday Treats: Aquolina Pink Sugar

Today's treat is absolutely yummy! It is my most often worn fragrance, Aquolina Pink Sugar. When it is smelling its very best, this perfume wafts scents of berries, caramel, and cotton candy, while somehow falling short of smelling like I'd be sticky to touch. It also has light notes of musk and bergamot that give it a more grown-up fragrance than if it were a pure cotton candy smell. I think that the tangy scents of orange and raspberries help to temper the sweetness too.

I have an incredible sensitivity to smells, will get migraines at the drop of a hat, but this fragrance, while potent does not provoke headaches in me. I actually have a very strong sweet tooth and a whiff of this, satisfies my desire for delicious, decadent desserts a lot of times. I kind of want to put some on right now.

To me this is perfume heaven. Have you tried Pink Sugar? What did you think? What kind of fragrances make you breathe deeper?

Check out the other treats at Frances's blog hop. Join the hop yourself if you have something that you've been loving or lusting after.

Don't forget that I'm having a giveaway for one of my very first 50 followers. Check it out here.

Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday.

China Glaze Drawn to You

Hi there. Happy Friday! I own a couple of magnetic nail polishes and I used one for the very first time this past week. China Glaze Drawn to You is a medium purple shimmer polish on first application. The polish applies easily and evenly; I applied two coats. It begins to set up quickly, so the magnet has to be in your hands within a moment after the last sweep of the brush for each individual nail; I had to add a third coat to a couple of nails just because I didn't grab the magnet quickly enough. I think that working the magnet takes some practice too. You can see where my shaky hand messed up the index finger, but I was very pleased with how the pinkie turned out. My fingernails are very curved too, so I had a bit of trouble getting the magnet to affect a large portion of each nail.

Once the magnet has been used, the colors shift between dark purple and a light lilac purple, almost looking 3-dimensional at times. I topped my ring finger with the franken I made. It contrasted almost a little too much for my taste.

Drawn to You began chipping very quickly. By day four, I had significant chipping on index and middle fingers of both hands. I also suffered some nail breaks that messed up this manicure.

I don't know if magnetic nail polish is really my thing. I'll have to give it a little more practice and see more results on my fingers. I still have two bottles of magnetic polish to try out, so we'll see how it goes.

What do you think of magnetic polishes? Is the magnetic polish trend coming to an end? If not, any tips on how to steady my magnet hand? :)

Next week I'll show you Revlon Timeless and how I jazzed it up a little bit. Any current GFC followers, if you haven't checked out my giveaway, check it out. Take care.
